Your Time, Your Black Belt!

And here you are…

You have made it this far and to prove how unique you are it’s time I shared a few things with you. No matter how crushing it might sound, the statistical, mathematical, scientific, logical, proven, reality is that most people who join our dojo will never get to the legendary black belt.
Is it possible to get a black belt?  Of course it is, but probable? Heck No!
Thousands of new students pass through dojo doors around the world every minute. How many of those even get to the second belt? How many get to the third belt? Fourth? Fifth? Sixth? Black?

Do the math.  (Answer: “Not many.”)
It’s just simple statistics. I’m not trying to discourage anyone. It’s not a plot. But let’s keep it real here: Just like most businesses fail within two years of starting, most Karate students don’t get to black belt. They just don’t have the dedication, willingness or spark that you have.
You should be proud… Very Proud!
I bet you’re glad I didn’t share that with you in the beginning….
And now the hard part begins.  You got a small taste of it Saturday.  I wish I could help you more but this is up to you.

I don't have the secret, except to encourage you to keep coming to your classes --to keep practicing when you’re not at class. I don't know what your "success" with this test is going to look like, really --and I don't know when you're going to feel successful, as in “Wow I’m going to ace this!”

I do know, however, for a fact, that success in passes your Black Belt test isn't a trick, a technique, a scam, something you can buy, a long sales letter, the 2 week trial, the occasional visit, or a 9 part Blue ray series that promises and/or guarantees that you'll learn what it takes to be successful. I'm almost 100% certain you're not going to find a shortcut to this particular "success," and if you think you do, at least in the times I thought I'd found one, you end up looking back an realizing you're were as deluded and arrogant as just about every other Sad Sack in the world. But then, that too ends up serving you, doesn't it (hopefully).

All I can really do for you is to encourage you to show up, to engage, to push yourself harder than ever before, to fail, to try again and persevere as close to the next 7 weeks as you can muster. Hopefully, if you're capable, you'll define some kind of success that doesn't make you sick, crazy, or destructive --or worse, injured.

Best of Luck to all…

  1. Today was a good day to start off boot camp. I'm proud of myself for getting an under 8 min mile and I am glad to see that my classmates have put in amazing effort. You all did a great job. I'm proud of you! See you all in the next one.

  2. I think today was very challenging, but I'm glad that everyone got through it okay. I know I need to work on a few things, but I'm working on my pushups with my dad (you know, that guy that did 81 pushups at the last physical fitness part for the belt test!) and I am determined to not give up!

  3. Yesterday was hard and easy at the same time. It was fun and unpleasant, the only part I feel I had trouble with was the kick sets. Even though I had trouble I had fun. I would like to thank Mr. Bryan for being my partner and for telling me weird stories, it helped me keep going. Yesterday was a new experience and I can't wait for next week to see what is in store for me.

  4. I need to improve my fitness scores, so I am working hard on bettering my pushups, squats, plank, and runtime. I do my best to run every day, but I cannot for the other items because my muscles need time to heal. My endurance also needs to be worked on; I learned that from the sprints that we did yesterday. My recovery time is not what it used to be, although it is better than I expected.

Because we are not going to be reviewing too much in boot camps, I am reviewing everything throughout the week. each type of set has a specific day i.e. Forms on Monday, Self De. on Tuesday, etc.

I am definitely going to use the recipe Seh Ssung gave us for the next boot camp. (oranges, blueberries, bananas, and cucumber)

Veterans of the BB Test: I keep reminding myself twice a day of the mantra, “Once a Black Belt, not always a Black Belt," and with that in mind, continue to train hard. We know what this test is like, and we must prepare ourselves to continue to be strong and improve.

BB Candidates: Do your best, and you can’t go wrong. Continue to Train Hard, Believe in yourself, Achieve your daily goals, and you WILL Achieve your next rank.

Everyone, continue to train hard! We got this!
Dedicated to our Fitness, Protection, and Success

Also- Based on past experience, I suggest writing your blog entries in a word document before copy/pasting them into here. The site can bug out sometimes and you have to start your comment over again.

  5. My first day at boot camp was a little tougher on my legs then I had anticipated due to the extra sprints, kick sets, etc. which made me fatigue and start to cramp up which was surprising and disappointing. The plan of rectifying the fatigue issue will start this week with more sprinting, stretching, tons of kick sets so this never happens again. The cramping part is being addressed already, it started last week with a new diet with better hydration before and during boot camps, i.e. using the She Ssung energy and hydration pack and bring enough liquid to replenish. I didn’t remember to bring my water so thanks to Dan for being smart enough to bring two. Today as I type this I (almost) feel that I could do it again now which is really good sign due to the exaggerated Father Time affected recovery process of mine.
To the Krav B.B. candidates(the old guys), we all need to work on the kick sets let me know when you have time and we can go over them.
I really enjoy dealing with the hard challenge I now find myself in!

  6. This was a good start. I really need to work on the run. Surprised that I'm wasn't sore afterwards. So looking forward to next weeks challenge

  7. Today at boot camp was challenging with the sprints but we all made through it. I was happy about my mile because i PR- my mile 6:14 by 6 seconds i want to get my mile under 6:00 and i will train harder for my runs.

  8. Boot Camp was tougher than i expected. I am feeling very sore today and cramping mostly in my legs. My flat feet are def not helping me out but I was happy to lower my run time again and get under 8 min on the mile. I plan on changing my diet, stretching more before the next boot camp and hydrating to help with the cramping and soreness. The kick sets also need some serious work, so looks like some extra time on the mat is needed.

  9. Everyone did great for their first day of boot camp! Boot camp has made me think that I need to work on sprints. This week I am going to really start reviewing previous material and continue to work hard to reach my fitness goals.

  10. First boot camp, always a good day of conditioning! Nice to see everyone do so well. Took a few seconds off my time, which made me happy. The 100 sprawls has taken its to!l on my legs, will take a few days to recover.

  11. I am sorry to have missed he first bootcamp. Have been sick, but am looking forward to getting back on the mat this week and the being at the next bootcamp.

  12. First bootcamp is done and I am happy to have taken time off of my mile run. I hope to run a 6 minute before bootcamp is done. Going to work on improving my push ups and continue to practice my curriculum. Good job every for working hard and continue practicing.

  13. Hello everyone,
Firstly, I would like to apologize to everyone for not posting an entry before the weekend was over. I was confused of where to post and it was just now that I found out that we have to comment in the thread. I am again very sorry. This will never happen again.
I enjoyed boot camp. It was my first, and it was better than I expected it to be. I definitely need to work on my conditioning, especially my push ups. Also, my mile time is good, but since good is the enemy of excellence, I need to do better. I want to get it to be under 7:15 by the time boot camp is over. I think everyone did a great job. Raring up and ready to go for next Saturday!
    Thank you.

  15. Boot Camp is back and i'm getting better! I just beat my record for the mile, 5:30! Not only that but the 100 sprawls was quite the exercise. Thats one down and more to go, bring it on!

  16. Boot Camp is always a gut check, I anticipate it getting harder with each week. A great job by everyone on Saturday. Looking forward to In N Out next week. lol

  17. Today, Seh Ssung went a little easy on us due to the upcoming tournament- so that there would be no excuse for performing terribly when it's your time to shine!

Obviously there is a meaning to every drill we do. Surprisingly, I liked doing the kick sets barefoot on the grass today. I think this not only helps your endurance and your ability to bear pain, but it also works your lower leg muscles, and makes them stronger. Basically, I learned today that the deeper meaning of the drill is to improve one's balance and focus.

I'm not improving on my mile time- and I think that's a problem. Though its under eight minutes, I think I could run a little faster. I need to focus on that.

In addition, the board breaks today weren't as hard as I thought they would be! Judging the thickness of the board, I thought I would break zero boards. Zip. Zilch. But I actually broke two of the four boards with a jumping front kick and a slip step axe! Overall, I need to practice the spinning hook kick and the flying side, and also increase my self-esteem, just a little bit.

The frozen fruit mixture was a hit with Kairav and I! We are definitely going to keep doing that.

boot camp was good today its been a really tough week for me this week I feel like I have taken a bunch of hits I think it affected my performance this week. I hope to have a better run next week. kick sets barefoot in the grass was pretty cool.

  20. Boot camp felt good to me. I'm glad I memorized my forms for Miss Debbie's session. The Indian run felt like it improved my running skills and my other classmates skills. I will see you all in the next one. By the way, I'll see you all in the tournament.

  21. 5:23 ON MY MILE!!! It feels so good! I am getting faster every day and this proves it. Boot camp was really awesome. It was short, but still good. Got to get the exercise in me. Can't wait for the next one. Until then, the tournament.

  22. Week two down.. Back to my 6:25 mile a 7 second improvement from last week. Kick sets were much better this week. More practice is needed.
Over all everyone did a great job. I really liked the barefoot kick sets on the grass.

  23. Great job everyone for there 2nd bootcamp!!! Everyone did great on there mile, board breaking, kicks and forms! Keep it up everyone will do great!

  24. Based on my time yesterday, i really need to work on my run. I will be working on my sprints on the treadmill, and once school is over, and I wont be running in there, I will be able to work on it more to my needs. My creative weapons form kind of tanked today during the tournament, so I will be working on it extra hard these next few weeks in case they ask us to perform them for the panel. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good!

I will need to practice my endurance, because doing the sparring on tuesday was much harder than I expected.

Everybody - keep up the hard work! See you on tuesday!

  25. We had a shorter boot camp on Saturday, and it was appreciated after doing the 1000 kicks the night before. I need to increase my interval training so that I can improve my mile time. Everyone keep working your forms, testing will be here before you know it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am terribly sorry for the fact that I was absent this boot camp because of an unfortunate sickness. However after these few days of well needed rest I can happily say that I am ready for the next boot camp and will of course be there to help and encourage our candidates.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This was my first boot camp and even though it was shorter than normal, it was good. I am happy that my run time is under 8 minutes and hope to improve on my time over the next couple of weeks. When we split up into two groups and I went over all my lower belt forms I realized I need to practice a bit more. Looking forward to the next boot camp.

  28. Had a great time. Need to work on my run time and kick sets. Looking forward to next week

  29. I was thankful for the shorter bootcamp on Saturday. My mile time is getting better, but I need to practice during the week to bring it under 8 minutes.

  30. This boot camp was a good one. I feel like I have improved since last boot camp. I feel like I have gotten better at my kick sets and other things like running and going really slow then going really fast then slow again. Boot camp is an odd experience but I like it. I can't wait for the next one, yeah!!!!

  31. Sorry all I missed posting my 2nd boot camp entry until now. It was nice and easy thankfully after the 1000 kicks on Friday, I’m sure feeling at least 500 of them now. The recoup time from running seems to be diminishing a bit and I am liking that a lot. Well we now have 2 down and we will be half way thru soon so now it’s time to shift gears and work on getting better at everything we do to finish as strong as possible!
    Until next time; Stay strong

  32. Since I went directly from Boot Camp to camping with my Girl Scout Troop, I messed up and forgot to blog. Boot camp was hard, but I think that I am improving. It was one packed weekend, but I am glad I made it through. Only four boot camps left!

  33. Sorry for the late blog. Great gob at the tournament everyone, keep working on those miles.

  34. Been running all week. Looking forward to a better time Saturday morning

  35. Great job at boot-camp today guys. Work on push-ups, everyone except for Mike. Try and shave 5 seconds of those mile times. Keep it up!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Today was very challenging, especially going over the fight sets. Pushups were hard, too. I'm glad we all survived today. I'm glad that I am consistently running under a 7:30. When I remember back to my first physical test as an almost yellow belt where I ran a 12 minute plus mile, I can see that I am improving, at least with my run times. I'm going to keep reminding myself -- practice, practice, practice!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My running is not going well, but thank you all for encouraging me. School is out this week, so I will have more time to practice and work on my running. I'm going to work sprints on the track to get more used to the dirt track. I will then wait for about 10 minutes while stretching out, then I will run the mile. My squats and plank are doing alright, but I am continuing to work on them, and my pushups really need work. I'm am planning to practice sparring with Ms. Debbie soon, and am going to enhance my endurance with jumping rope because that's (endurance in sparring) one of the things I have the most trouble with. This week, I will also be reviewing my speech over and over because I keep leaving important stuff out, and i want to remember as much as possible the day of.

Thank you all for your continued encouragement!
Keep up the hard work! Train hard, Believe, Achieve!

  39. Today was a good day, it helped me see what I need to work on more. My push-ups and the plank and stuff of that sort. I also need to work on all of the fight sets and forms. I am confident with my other stuff. I felt bad when I was holding the pads today, I felt like an idiot for forgetting them. I am sorry to the partners that I held for today. I hope I was not to much of an inconvenience and thank you for helping me with them. I will work on them as much as I can this week. See you all next week!

  41. Great boot camp today. Everyone was pushing hard on the run, Dojo time was was awesome. I would highly recommend more sparring time for everyone. Maybe sparring for 5 minutes every class would greatly improve everybody. 3 Down 3To Go.

    Till next time.......

  42. Bootcamp was somewhat good to me. I aced my running time, although I learned to work on my kick boxing sets, push ups, squats, and plank. I am sore today! (That must mean I'm doing it right.) Now I know what to work on. Hope to see you all in the next one!

    ReplyDelete
  43. At our last boot camp, I did not succeed in making the 8 minute mile, but I did 8:01! I need to work on my pushups. My splits are great and I am still working hard on the fight sets. See you guys in class on Tuesday!

    ReplyDelete
  44. This bootcamp was great, it opened my eyes on the fact that something I must work on to succeed is my squats and push-ups, but with school coming to a close I have plenty of time to work on those. With three bootcamps remaining I want to see what is going to happen over the course of these last three weeks. My run time is looking well and hopefully by the end of these three weeks I can achieve my goal of an under six minute mile and move on to the next set of goals that I have set for myself in the future. Keep up the great work everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  45. this boot camp we ran the mile and came back to the dojo and practice some fight sets. After those we did the push ups, squats, and the plank. Even though I did well there is still room to improve. Keep up the good work guys we're half way through the boot camps.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I started doing some extra training last week and it helped me with my mile run. I don't know my exact time, but I know it was under 7 minutes and 50 seconds, which is 10 less than last week. When we were at the dojo we did the rest of the physical test, and it was good to see where I stood with my push ups, squats and plank. While I made it through and meet my numbers, I am sore and will keep working those things. We did a good review of the kick boxing sets and practiced sparring which was good. Keep up the good work everyone and keep practicing.

  47. Bootcamp was a challenge. I am sore today! I am going to work on my push ups and squats daily. I know I need to work more on my sparring and krav fight sets. I am glad we reviewed those during bootcamp saturday. Everyone did a great job, see you on tuesday.

  48. Another boot camp down and I left this one in the perfect position (upright). This one felt like a dry run at the belt test and feel OK about the results. The run gets slightly better each time and will continue to do so. I just need to get more “flight” into my training process. The part back at the dojo went as expected, did well on the push-ups, squats and plank. It’s a new concept for me when sparring to think about not trying to hit hard but yet still fast and clean, that should clean up my form, defensive stance and footwork. Hopefully I don’t get knocked out by one of these tough little candidates who always seem to impress me! The fight sets get a little sloppy as I get a more fatigued so that needs to be addressed. I do feel stronger each time we complete one of these and my recoup time is becoming less and less.
Great job everyone and keep it up.

  54. My run got a little bit better on this latest run which is very satisfying but now I have another issue i have to address. Everything was going fine once when went back to the Dojo until Se Sung asked us to hold a plank. I could barley hold it past 2 min... my shoulders were on fire and my joints were giving out no matter how hard i tried to hold it. I didn't think anything of it since i have held plank position many times in the past for longer that 5 min..but know I have to find a way to get past my Lyme symptoms and extreme joint pain.... I think another doctors visit is in order

  55. ALL RIGHT! ONYL 3 MORE TO GO! I am really excited about this. But also worried. Because after the camp of the boot, we have to do the test and learning that on Friday we might have to stay until 11 or 12 o'clock!? Looks like I'm making friends with coffee. But still, BRING IT ON!

    ReplyDelete
  56. This was a tiring boot camp, but that just means we're getting stronger and stronger like they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger so everyone stand tall and keep going

    ReplyDelete
  57. I am glad the we worked breaks today. I feel more confident with them, even though I would like to work them more so when the time comes I can break all the boards. I have been working all my stuff today to know that I know it. Looking forward to next week, see you all then.

    ReplyDelete
  58. After yesterday's boot camp, I feel a little more confident than before.
My physique has definitely improved. Compared to my previous mile time of 7:27, this time I ran it in 7:08.
I think it was beneficial to practice board breaks yesterday, because now I know I need to practice the flow of the four kicks themselves (jumping front, spinning hook, slipstep axe, and flying side) and also to increase accuracy.
I liked the run-sprints on the track. It felt like a piece of cake for me after the mile, and it also felt refreshing. I also thought the different strength excercises such as the carries helped a lot as well.
I also had a question. Since starting tomorrow Master's Quest III have only three classes per week (and that to, with the Black Belts), will there be any more candidate classes? If so, what time?
With school slowly coming to an end, and the Black Belt test inching ever so close, I am now pushed to work harder than I ever have. I'm happy that I'm using all the physical and mental energy that I have stored up in my body for the right things in life.
A true Black Belt never quits, and a true Black Belt is never forgotten.
I want to become a true Black Belt.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I felt like I did good kicks on the bags for break practice, but I know I still need to practice my pushups and plank so I will be strong. I will be so happy when school finishes on Thursday and I can put 110% of my focus on karate. : )

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm proud of my running time. Right now I'm working on the other exercises that are needed to pass the black belt test. I will also be practicing the kicks for the breaks. Have a lovely weekend, and I will see you all next week!

  61. Great job at boot-camp everybody. Focus on those push-ups.

  62. Another boot-camp down and I dropped another 10 seconds off my mile time and felt less winded after then the other times. The body drag lines are always an instant heart rate accelerator. The quarter sprints on the track seem to improve my long stride running form which should help to improve my mile run time even more. I am less sore after this one then the last few, hopefully that continues. Back at the dojo is where I seem to find the truth about my conditioning level. I’m good for about the first 80% then I feel my form/ high kicks get a little sloppy as my legs get fatigued so I need to double or triple my effort during the week. I do notice how everyone seems to be getting faster, stronger and mentally tougher no matter their age or size.
    That’s probably the point.
    Thankful for everyone’s help always!
    George

  63. Sorry i couldn't finish bootcamp. I pulled my quad while i was sprinting with Mike. I will defiantly be carful with it run the next boot camp. Everyone did great on the breaks i wanted to do them but i couldn't move my leg.

  64. this weeks boot camp went well, didn't get any more time shaved off my mile so I was a little disappointed in that but the rest was fantastic. It felt great to help the candidates by helping them and giving them tips on the breaks so they can break the board itself. Still need to work my push ups and squats to get past 50 of each in the time limit, other than that I am looking well on my stuff. Can't wait for school to get out next Tuesday so I am able to put as much focus as I need on karate instead of dealing with all the stuff during these last 7 days of school left.

  65. This boot camp was a little hard. I was not very happy with my mile time, so I will be working on that . After the mile we had to carry our partners down and back. Then we did sprints around the track. After all that we went back to the dojo and practiced our 4 kicks for the breaks. Good job everyone and keep up the good work see you guys on Tuesday.

  67. This week, my run went much better, but I am still working on trying to get it better. I got 7:30, and I am aiming to shave off another thirty seconds. My pushups also need work, so every other day, I am practicing those. I have been working my splits and plank while watching tv. I am still reviewing each thing per each assigned day, and my creative form everyday. My creative form is much better than it was at the tournament. With every passing day, I am getting both more and more nervous, and more and more excited!

  72. Based on my performance yesterday, over the next week, I need to improve my run and my pushups. I am especially working on keeping my body straight the whole time i'm doing pushups. For my run, I am beating the 8 minutes, but I keep feeling like I have to stop to throw-up before I can finish, so I'm working on my endurance and my ability to finish without stopping, so I can finish with a faster time.

Two weeks and it's all over, team! Train Hard! Don't give up now!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I can't really say that I improved in this boot camp, but I also can't say that I got worse either. Maybe it was all that fast food I survived on in my three-day school field trip to Ashland, Oregon. Or maybe it was that I was tired...
What am I saying? I shouldn't be making any excuses! (raps self lightly on the head) Get back to reality, K-Girl!
My pushups are getting better, although my form still isn't going to get me anywhere. I will practice that the most.
I finally got the hang of the 2 for 2 set and Foot Work set! Now I just have to practice until my muscles know the rhythm. Memorizing it is one thing, but doing something fluidly is another. Nothing's impossible.
School ends this week, so now I have more time to put effort into the test. That means more outside time, in general. Which also means more training at home.
We have only one more boot camp left. Honestly, I'm feeling a little nervous about the Test, but everyone makes it feel like I would pass on the first try. I know this is an illusion, and it won't bar me from working harder.

We've all come so far from where we started, as white belts. Only one more boot camp left to go, and then it's the decisive Black Belt Test. Lengthen your own line, do your vest, and I wish good luck to everyone! It's the final stretch- finish strong!

    ReplyDelete
  74. When I look back at how far I have come since I was seven years old and a white belt, I feel pretty good. I know that I need to focus and work hard, especially on my pushups and being able to do all my forms and kick sets without wanting to peek at other people. I want to finish strong. We can do it!

  75. Another boot camp down and I improved my run time by another 10 seconds. My legs felt fine, not out of breath and still felt that I could run some more. I know I can still push myself a little harder and trim a few more seconds off. Back at the dojo things went as expected on the fight sets, 2 for 2’s, etc. The 3, 7 & 9 count is still too new to just run off of memory but I am learning. One surprising thing did happen is that I got a little fatigued toward the last bit of the pushups. You strengthen your weakness and your strengths become weaker or so goes the quote. This week I will be working on cleaning up the fight/kick sets to remove any flaws and just make them look as smooth as possible. It’s nice to know we are almost there but it sure does put a lot more pressure on you knowing that everything you have been taught and hope you have mastered you will soon be tested on. Everyone does looks like they are ready for this… Bring it on!!!

I’d walk into a dark alley with any of you!

  76. Boot camp was fantastic! I still need to work a little bit more on my pushups. I definitely need to work on my plank. Other than that, my practicing at home has been really helping. Can't wait to see you all next week.

  77. This boot camp I felt better about my fight sets and all the other curriculum. I have been working on my pushups and squats and things of the like. I am feeling a little nervous about the test and the graduation but also exited. Ready for next boot camp, bring it on sir!

  79. Bootcamp was good. I am struggling with my pulled quad, trying to take it easy, rest and ice. I felt good about my fight sets, 3,7,9 counts. I am going to slow jogging this week to see how my leg does to get ready for our fitness test on Sunday. Keep up the good work!!

  81. The first boot canp showed me that I had many things to work on, like push ups. Also, I wanted to work my mile more.

  82. this bootcamp was fine. I was kind of disappointed in myself for not doing as good as I wanted to on the mile, so I am going to be working extra hard to take off those last 10-24 seconds to get the under six minute mile. This was also the second to last bootcamp, and with the run being this Sunday and the test next week, I wish you all the best of luck in preparing and training for the test.

  84. I am sorry that I missed this boot camp. When I felt better in 2 days I went over all of the forms and self defense I need to work a little on my fight sets. My squats, pushups, plank, and mile time are looking good keep up the good work and will see all of you on Tuesday.

  85. The run went smoothly and I felt much better about it and not so out of breath this time around. My time had also improved slightly. Everything else seems to be falling into place except my plank. My shoulder is killing me. I went to the doctor this last week for my shoulder and got a shot and also had an adjustment. Tried to use my shoulder this last weekend hoping it would feel better and it felt like it was on fire.... not sure what is going on with it but will check in with the doctor again this week. I hope this doesn't affect the test. This week I will be tightening up my fight and kick sets and nursing my shoulder for the big day!! Everyone else is looking great!

  86. The boot camps have certainly been rough from a purely physical standpoint. After several years of Krav, certain parts of my body simply need a rest! I finally gave in and had a cortisone shot in my left shoulder a few weeks ago, and that has helped quite a bit and I'm probably having more in both shoulders by the end of the week. Good times though - everyone seems excited about what is to come and the team effort is particularly encouraging!!

  87. Thanks to all my fellow Krav participants for continuing to push me to get better every day! Not just those that are preparing for the BB test, but everyone in there. Wednesday's class was pretty physical, and it didn't help that we were all a sweaty mess within ten minutes due to the high humidity. Oh well - we're all here for a reason, so no complaints.

  88. The second boot camp showed me that I need to work on my breaks.

  89. The third boot camp showed me to work on my push-ups, and sparing.

  90. The fourth boot camp showed me to work on my jumping front kicks, and axe kicks

  91. The fifth boot camp helped me remember my fight sets, and my 3,7, and 9 sets.

  93. Wow Bootcamp is over! I worked really hard yesterday, I am struggling with a few forms. I know what I need to do to help myself with them. I am glad I had some time with Seh Ssung to review them. Everyone is doing really well and I am proud of all my class mates! Good luck this morning during the fitness test!

  95. I'm going to miss this cycle's boot camp - the time I spent with the candidates. The candidates will never stop impressing me. I hope you will all pass the black belt test and have a special moment at the graduation. I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the next rank!

  96. I had fun at boot camp, it was a good experience. Everyone did a great job. Can't wait for the test! I know all my stuff, at the same time I am a little nervous. It is like when you are about to get on a big scary roller coaster your scared to get on but when you get off you want to go again! See you all next time.

  97. Boot camp is over and it seems like we just started. On the other hand (and both feet) it seems like it took forever and required more than I thought it would. I feel satisfied with the way that I competed/ completed everything that was thrown at us but do realize that running days will need to be added at least once a week to my fitness program. A look back makes me think we have seen a bit of our true selves with the way we deal with this whole thing while also that of others around us, again probably the whole point of boot camp. It was a tough weekend with Friday, Saturday and Sunday and now there are a few more weeks ahead of the same. Great job everyone and keep it up.

  98. Not going to lie.....this weekend was rough! And - I'm glad the boot camp is over. I agree with George that incorporating some running every week as part of a fitness program is important going forward, especially for us old guys.

I would like to congratulate Ilan on all the hard work he put in on making his run time! It is very impressive the extra work he put in so that he could make time - so a whole-hearted congrats. Keep in mind - there are four Krav candidates with a combined age of about 200 - and after several years of this, Ilan, Nick and George continue to impress me. Great work gentlemen!

I'd like to also show my deepest appreciation to everyone that offered me a great deal of encouragement on my second run. I pushed it as hard as I possibly could, but know for a fact - there is NO possible way I could have done so without the cheering, and even the running alongside of me, by my fellow Krav candidates, including Mike, and Miss Shoana. No matter the end result, I won't forget that. A very sincere thank you to all of you.

  99. This boot camp is finally over! Everyone did a great job. I'm nervicited (nervous and excited) about the belt test, and I know that everyone will be amazing.

  100. So happy that boot camp is finally over! I am proud of myself. I made the mile under 8 minutes. I still need to work on some things before the big test - like the gun defenses. Good luck to everyone.

  101. Last boot camp, nothing left but the test now. I am going to practice my pushups one last time this week before the test. Probably on Tuesday. Other than that, all I can do is review my forms, especially my creative weapon. There are studies that show that the last thing you think about before bed is what your mind will work through it during the night, so I am doing what I've always done in the last couple weeks before a BB test. I go to sleep reviewing all my forms and things in my head.

Everyone- well done so far, and Good luck in the rest of the test! You are smart and strong. Don't ever forget that. We are prepared! we can do this!

  102. Well done everyone, you have made it through the all the bootcamps. All that's left to do are the tests, I hope everyone is well prepared for the approaching week. Good job to all, stay strong, smart, and focused and you will do just fine. Keep up the hard work and don't forget to do your training.

  103. Congrats on everyone finishing all 6 boot camps. I do need to practice some things like the first degree form. Good luck to everybody on testing and see all of you on Tuesday.

  104. Well we made it through the last boot camp and fitness, but our journey is just beginning. Great job to everyone on their fitness test. I am happy that I was able to keep most of my run times under 8 minutes, but really want to try and reach the 7:30 mark for my mile next boot camp, so I have some work to do over the next 6 months, but now it is time to turn my attention to the Krav and BB Test on Friday and Saturday. Wish everyone the best of luck and hopefully we are able to support each other and help each be successful during the next week.

  105. Boot camp is finally over. Although this is the end of one chapter, it feels more like the beginning of something great in our lives. I learned a lot about myself, struggling through my injuries aches and pains, mental hurdles and also a lot about others around me on how they deal with challenges and adversity. I will keep the good lessons learned, incorporate them into my toolbox and stay far away from the bad ones. I want to thank my all my Krav mates for teaching me so much about myself through the hard years of training and for being there for me through all of the adversity, especially when I was sick. I will never forget that. I look forward to what comes next!

  106. Well I owe a couple of post here. Going back to week three boot camp. Feeling stronger each week. I like the split boot camps 1/2 outside 1/2 inside. Kick sets improving and muscle memory is starting to take over again.

  107. Awesome boot camp, number 4 down 2 to go. Can't explain the feeling when all these people come together with all here struggles and triumphs, they just hold each up and encourage one another to reach for more to keep going keep pushing. People ask me what I love most about Krav and I have to say THE PEOPLE. GREAT JOB EVERYONE
